Have you been inspired by the success of the GB Rowing Team? Do you want to learn a new skill, make new friends and join a dynamic, successful and welcoming rowing club? Then rowing could be the sport for you!
Even if you think you’re too old or too unfit, we welcome all participants to join in a sport that is low impact but gives a full body aerobic workout.
The Learn to Row programme at Northwich Rowing Club has been running since 2006 and a large number of our current senior and masters members joined the club through this route. The courses run on weekday evenings during British Summer Time to ensure participants enjoy getting to learn a new skill without getting too cold!
We offer a six week course for £85 per participant. This consists of a free taster day, five training sessions and a Learn to Row fun regatta day. All courses are led by our fully qualified volunteer coaches.
The course covers the basics of rowing and introduces you to a club that prides itself on welcoming all members, irrelevant of age, ability or athletic potential. No matter what your rowing ambitions, we’re here to help you fulfil them!
Rowing is a fairly technical sport and this course will allow you to learn the basics required to enjoy a paddle up and down our lovely stretch of water. Following the course, participants have a number of development routes available from the non-competitive leisure squad, through to the competitive senior squads.
The course is held on a 2350m stretch of the River Weaver near Northwich. This stretch of the Weaver boasts great scenery and is sheltered from the elements and flooding which make it an excellent location to learn to row.
Participants of the Learn to Row course must be over 18 years old, in good health and able to swim 50m in light clothing, the course is open to both men and women
Under 18s interested in rowing at NRC please have a look at the Squads page
